CUSHING, WILLIAM ORCUTT (1823-1902)

William Cushing was a pastor in the Disciples of Christ church for twenty-seven years. He had to retire from the ministry at the age of forty-seven because of partial paralysis and the loss of speech. He wrote the lyrics to more than 300 hymns after leaving the ministry.
