OATMAN, JOHNSON, JR. (1856-1922)

Johnson Oatman, Jr., was ordained by the Methodist Episcopal denomination, but he never pastored a church. Oatman was a successful business man, engaged in a shipping business and in his later years as an administrator for a large insurance company in New Jersey. He was the author of more than 3000 hymn texts.
