1. I had walked life's way with an easy tread. I followed where pleasures and comforts led. Until one day in a quiet place, I met my Master face to face. 2. With station and rank and wealth for my goal, Much thought for my body but none for my soul, I entered to win in life's mad race, When I met my Master face to face. 3. I met Him and knew Him and blushed to see That His eyes full of sorrow were fixed upon me. I faltered and fell at His feet that day And watched my castles all melt and vanish away. 4. My thoughts are now for the souls of men. I lost my life only to find it again, Ere since that day in a quiet place, I met my Master face to face. I met my Master face to face.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28, KJV)
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12, KJV)
Many times, God allows tragic circumstances to come into people's lives to bring conviction on their hearts. For the composer of this song, it took a diagnosis of a terminal illness. Even though he was raised in a Christian home, he spent many years of his adult life indulging in the sinful pleasures of the world, giving no thought to serving God. However, after he learned of his illness, he had a chance to reflect back on his life and the choices that he made. During this time, he met the Master face to face. Jesus Christ forgave all of his sins and transformed his life. He developed a passion to win the souls of men for Jesus Christ and he devoted the remainder of his life to that purpose.
Every one of us will have at least one opportunity to meet the Master, Jesus Christ, “face to face,” either in this life as Lord and Savior or at the day of judgment before the great white throne. None of us knows in advance when we will take our last breath in our earthly body. Only God knows this. If you have not already accepted God's plan of salvation for your life, please consider the eternal consequences of your choice.
